ScholAR was a research project taken up with the IDC School ofDesign at IIT Bombay. It involves using augmented reality mediums towards helping students learn in a more integrated and effective manner. My contribution to this project was the ImagineAR branch of research. It involved using a technique of “learn by doing” along with “open-ended problem solving” through augmented reality. AR gives the ability to visualize aspects of a problem that would otherwise not be possible.
Solving complex problems by incorporating user research into creating effective user experiences.
In my personal projects, I ask Why Not?
Stretching the limits of interaction design and novel interfaces.
AI Transparency
As this portfolio is meant to showcase my thoughts and process, I've made a conscious effort towards tagging AI use in the writeup or media. Wherever you see this tag, it means that content was created primarily using Generative AI tools.

Strawctures
Strawctures are a modular interactive building material that I co-created. They are meant to help students learn simple electronics and logic while integrating it into real life scale structures. The entire kit contains 8 types of interactive straws with built in electronics. These can be connected together to create life size interactive structures.

Olfaction + VR
This project explores immersion in virtual reality environments and how the ability to use additional senses in VR like tactile, sense of smell etc. might impact the level of immersion. I created a prototype that generated a fine scented mist when triggered through the VR environment. We conducted a systematic experiment to test this versus other stimuli.

Hypnagogic Assist
Based on research conducted by Adam Horowitz at MIT Media Lab, this is a low cost smartphone based exploration for inducing the hypnagogic sleep state and lucid dreaming Users hold the phone with their fingers touching the screen as they fall asleep. As they fall into the second stage of sleep, their fingers relax and they lose contact with the touchscreen causing the to phone gently vibrate, attempting to bring the user into the hypnagogic state.

Blown Messages
For everyday communication we send messages, post letters and talk to people. To show affection, we might blow kisses. The first of a series of exhibition projects, Blown Messages is an interactive exhibition project which lets anyone in the vicinity type a message on his or her phone and then blow it towards a projector screen where it is displayed.

Solar Trinkets
From my early days of tinkering and making, Solar Trinkets try to bring a bit of light and warmth to your travel accessories. Their easy to attach design and solar power source means you never have to worry about them. This prototype, lasts up to 5 hours on half hour of charge. Next steps included the inclusion of automatic lighting, gesture sensing and friendly notification alerts.

ArduDIY
The project that made me fall in love with open source. This started as an entrepreneurial endeavor, but seeing the impact led me to open source it. It was a custom designed Arduino board along with all material, components and instructions required to build/solder it from scratch. Meant to get young engineers interested in the world of embedded electronics and software.
